Pink Sugar Project operates in Orange County, CA and the surrounding area. We grew from the intersection of three passions:
Making the world a better place (especially for animals)
Changing the world through business (as opposed to destroying it for profit)
We've combined these passions with plenty of skill, talent, and experience to create a business that is essentially about being good: to ourselves, our planet, the animals in our care, and to each other. The best way to be good is to do good, and we apply this principal to both our products and practices.
Have you ever loved a restaurant's food but decried its lack of service? Or maybe you've wanted to support a company that does good works but find its products average or overpriced? At Pink Sugar Project, we are committed to providing a superior product and stellar service at a fair price, all while following responsible business practices and pursuing our mission. Wow! How do we do it?
Unlike a lot of other companies, Pink Sugar Project isn't "going green" or being socially responsible because it's the latest trend. We aren't adding a recycling program in the employee lounge and then announcing we are a green company (this is known as "green washing")*. Nor are we donating a little money to charity and then touting widespread community involvement. Pink Sugar Project's good deeds aren't an afterthought; they are the the founding principles of the company. Our clients get to witness and participate in these principles through our parties. We've found that the only thing more rewarding than doing good works is sharing that experience with others.
*Green Washing is when companies try to take advantage of the marketing and advertising opportunities of "going green," but haven't really implemented any significant changes.
Things we like, and things we just say "no" to:
Delivering open and honest information about our products
Outstanding service that leaves you saying, "Wow!"
High pressure or sneaky sales tactics
Requiring customer email addresses and then sending incessant messages
Having to call somebody to get the information you need
Poor service, bad attitudes
About the Owner
Kim Curtis is an animal advocate, environmentalist, and proud owner of Pink Sugar Project. Born and raised in Ventura, California, she has spent her life seeking to put her talents and passion to their best and highest use. This led to the creation of her own social enterprise in the form of Pink Sugar Project.
Kim discovered her deep passion for social justice as a Women's Studies major at UCLA. This passion grew to include animal advocacy and environmental protection. On an individual level, she made a decision to take a stand against cruelty, pollution, and human rights abuses by becoming vegan and an overall conscientious consumer. Friends and acquaintances are often curious about her lifestyle choices (especially when it comes to food) and are often very receptive. If she could inspire people on a personal level to make small changes that had a significant collective impact, she wondered what could be done on a larger scale? While working for large companies (even those with strong values), she didn't feel she was reaching her potential for positive change. In an effort to reach that potential, she earned a master's degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in sustainability from California Lutheran University.
Kim absolutely loves all animals, but farm animals have a deep and special place in her heart…and piggies even more so! Farm animals are beautiful and intelligent, and the fact that millions and millions of them are caught up in the factory farming system is heartbreaking. Kim hopes to inspire people to make more compassionate food choices through Pink Sugar Project. Learn more on our Animal Friendly page. For more fun pictures, see below!
